Remote Electronic Tilt
Is a method of altering remotely and electronically the main beam of a cellular antenna direction (known as Downtilt), by using changes to the phase relationship. This reduces the alternative of having to physically attend the site and attempt to alter the downtilt mechanically. The need to alter the angle of tilt allows for antennas more easily and efficiently optimize the signal quality and bandwidth made available to the service users. Apart from the benefit to the service users RET provides lower capital expenditure and operating costs for the service provider.
