The International Building Code (IBC) is a building code model developed by the International Code Council (ICC).  It has been adopted throughout most of the USA and replaced the Uniform Building Code, BOCA Building Officials Code Administrators, and Standard Building Code (SBC). The IBC addresses fire prevention in regard to construction and design, and the fire code addresses fire prevention in regard to the operation of a completed and occupied building.
